Vimala left her native Malaysia for Hong Kong in 1984 to join Cathay Pacific Airways.  As a flight attendant, she travelled the world and was responsible for looking after VIP passengers - from Princess Margaret to Mother Teresa, as well as leading figures from the entertainment world.  It was a role that called for strong customer service skills as well as an ability to think quickly on her feet to respond to a variety of situations on board.

Before moving to London at the beginning of 1999, Vimala worked as a residential property negotiator in Hong Kong, helping expatriate families from around the world find accommodation and negotiating leases and rentals with landlords - a really tough selling job!

Vimala studied make-up design at Westminster College, London, gaining a BTEC Certificate in Make-up Design and Hair, before attending a series of TV presenting courses at the London Academy and John Robert Powers.

She started her own business as a freelance make-up artist, working across a broad range of media - including TV (on shows like The X-Factor), music videos (for artists such as 50 Cent and Tom Vek), film, theatre, and fashion.  With all this experience behind the camera, Vimala is no stranger to hard work and pressure, or indeed a studio environment.  She recognises the importance of teamwork, being able to work well under pressure, maintaining good humour, and having the self confidence to get on and do the job.

Vimala also works part-time in a very demanding and challenging sales environment as a retail make-up artist for M.A.C cosmetics at Selfridges in London.  The M.A.C counter at Selfridges is the biggest and busiest M.A.C outlet worldwide.  Her role includes educating customers about the full range of M.A.C products; advising customers on the products, colours and shades that would best suit them; demonstrating the products to (and on) customers - everything from applying a particular shade of eye shadow to complete make-overs; and, of course, closing the sale!

Vimala is well travelled with an understanding and appreciation of different cultures.  She is particularly interested in travel, property, health and beauty, food/cookery, entertainment, fashion and sport. Counselling people has always been a strength of Vimala’s and, last year, she gained the Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) from The Institute of Counselling.
